The effort, supported by a more than $500,000 grant from the Stevens Initiative, is funded by the U.S. Department of State and is housed at the Colorado-based Aspen Institute.
Project Manager Janice Miller says "it aids international understanding for our students at Ball State and those in Iraq to get to know each other. It’s powerful because it will use online, collaborative learning to increase cross-cultural understanding and equip young people with the skills needed to thrive in a 21st century economy."
Ball State faculty involved in the project include Educational Studies Professor Jill Bradley-Levine, Construction Management Professor Sherif Attallah and Art Professor Renmei Xu. Their spring and fall classes will include modules designed for the collaboration, which will involve students from other Indiana schools such as Anderson University and schools in Iraq: Tikrit University, University of Anbar and the University of Technology in Baghdad.
