SPARK, part of the Saint Mary’s College Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative, has graduated 179 women since launching in 2011. More than 50 sustained businesses have sprouted from the program, Saint Mary’s says.
Participants, called "SPARKlers" learn key skills to start a business from regional business owners. Steps of the program involve an entrepreneurial screening process and the 11-week SPARK Pre-venture Accelerator, which serves as a "blueprint" for business development through financial accounting and management, planning and marketing skills.
