IU Announces Next International Affairs VPPosted: Updated:
Indiana University has named Hannah Buxbaum as its next vice president for international affairs. She has been part of the IU Maurer School of Law faculty for 20 years and currently serves as legal ethics chair. Buxbaum will succeed David Zaret, who has held the position since 2011 and will retire in June.
She is also academic director of the IU Europe Gateway office in Berlin. Buxbaum's previous positions with the law school in Bloomington include serving as interim dean for nearly two years beginning in January 2012. She has also been associate dean for research and executive associate dean for academic affairs.
President Michael McRobbie says "Hannah's background and extensive international experience make her the ideal candidate to serve as IU's next vice president for international affairs. I am confident she will build upon the strong foundation that David Zaret and the staff of the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs built over many years -- a foundation that has helped make IU one of the nation's most internationally engaged universities."
Zaret's accomplishments during his time in the position include launching gateway offices in Europe, India and China, sending a record numbers of IU students to study abroad and tallying a record number of international students.
