Indianapolis-based Mimir, a cloud-based software company committed to helping users scale without compromising quality of education for students or quality of candidates for hire, has added Vinesh Kannan as lead curriculum engineer. He most recently co-founded Omnipointment, a group project tool that helps computer science students collaborate on assignments, with Brendan Batliner. Omnipointment was acquired by Mimir earlier this month.

Kannan studied computer science at the Illinois Institute of Technology. While a student, he designed enrichment programs that taught more than 1,200 students about collaboration, computing and entrepreneurship. In 2014, he helped launch the Student Computer Science Initiative at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy to make the computer classroom more collaborative while reducing pressure put on teachers. This year, he led the computer science team for IIT’s Exelon Summer Institute and developed new ways to help incoming college students succeed when learning to program in Java.
