The company says the facility, which is dedicated to design professionals, is the first of its kind to receive the designation.
AT&T Indiana President Bill Soards says having the fiber infrastructure in place will help local artists at the IDC create and businesses grow. Carmel City Councilor Bruce Kimball says the designation will be a "valuable tool" in attracting and retaining jobs.
"We have showrooms, art and design studios and galleries here," said Melissa Averitt senior vice president of IDC parent Pedcor Companies. "Ensuring that advanced technologies are available not only helps our current design professionals make the most of this fantastic facility, it can lure additional entrepreneurs and bring new jobs and investment to the area."
The IDC joins a litany of other facilities to receive the designation this year, including Indiana’s ports in Jeffersonville and Mount Vernon, as well as Inventrek Technology Park in Kokomo.
