The Indiana State University Foundation says Chief Executive Officer Ron Carpenter is stepping down at the end of the year. He also serves as vice president for the school’s Division of Development. Carpenter’s parents and his son, Jacob, are alumni. He earned both his bachelor’s (’77) and master’s (’82) degrees in criminology at Indiana State and was co-captain of the football team.

Carpenter has been an active member of the ISU Alumni Association, previously serving as president of the alumni board and was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998. He has served as chair of the ISU Board of Trustees and as a key member of the foundation board prior to joining the foundation staff in 2012.

Prior to taking the helm of the foundation, Carpenter led the Indianapolis-based Children’s Bureau for 25 years.

Carpenter’s accomplishments at the foundation include leading a development staff that increased the university endowment from $42.5 million in 2012 to $62.3 million, overseeing the dedication of the Larry Bird statue and scholarship campaign, which was the largest single-event fundraiser in university history, and launching the Elevate campaign with the athletics department. He was also involved with the restructuring of the foundation to more closely align it with the university as part of the unveiling of the new strategic plan in 2016.
