The third-part logistics provider says it will invest $8 million to add a 200,000-square-foot centralized distribution center, creating more than 50 full-time jobs by 2019. The addition will be used by California-based TaylorMade Golf Co. which is looking to consolidate its North American distribution operations to a more centrally-located site.
In a news release, the city of Evansville says the expansion will also create 114 "flex" jobs. WSI says its workforce will support the new operation and hiring plans for the expansion will be announced "in the near future."
"TaylorMade Golf is excited to partner with WSI and the City of Evansville on this new North American Distribution Center," said Kevin Limbach, vice president of operations for TaylorMade. "We’re looking forward to better servicing our customers by consolidating all of our warehousing and shipping activities in this strategic location and contributing to the Evansville community for many years to come."
Construction has begun on the expansion, though WSI did not provide an expected time frame for completion. The Evansville City Council has approved a six-year tax abatement for the project.
WSI operates nearly 80 facilities throughout North America and has more than 2,500 employees worldwide.
