OCRA says the efforts of Discover Connersville, which includes local business and community leaders, have helped foster growth in the Fayette County city.
Discover Connersville officials have been collaborating with other local organizations to revitalize the city’s downtown while preserving its past.
"I’m seeing a positive shift in our business community’s spirit, and the addition of Main Street Discover Connersville will help advance our community’s success," said Gertrud Whitaker, director of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce. "Investment in our downtown and historic properties creates unique gathering places, and people will go out of their way, and spend more money, to have a good experience."
Connersville joins more than 125 communities in the Indiana Main Street Program, which encourages economic development, redevelopment and improvement to downtowns throughout Indiana. The city of Rockport was added to the program last month.
