INDIANAPOLIS -

Seven historic properties throughout the state will receive funding from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for exterior renovations and repairs. The support from the Historic Renovation Grant Program has been awarded to privately-owned buildings in Ripley, Franklin, Dearborn, Boone, Union, Jefferson and Orange counties.

Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch says "maintaining Indiana's historic fabric and character is vital to growing the state's economy and attracting talent to our rural areas. Preservation efforts such as the Historic Renovation Grant Program can ensure a future for vacant and neglected commercial properties that might otherwise be lost."

The recipients include:

  • Depot Square in Batesville - $100,000
  • Valley House Flats in Brookville - $100,000
  • Acorn Hall in Greendale - $100,000
  • Indiana Bell/ Pioneer Printing Building in Lebanon - $51,252.50
  • J.A. Bertch & Sons Building in Liberty - $10,703
  • Elks Lodge in Madison - $81,025
  • Montgomery House in Paoli - $15,500

Renovation work includes roof replacement, masonry restoration, window repair and replacement, façade renovation, painting, storefront upgrades and rear entry improvements. You can read more about the program and the application process by clicking here.
