New Leader For Elkhart Chamber
The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has named Levon Johnson president and chief executive officer. Johnson, who most recently served as supervisor for corporate and community partnerships with Elkhart Community Schools, succeeds Kyle Hannon, who stepped down earlier this year.
Johnson was selected following a five-month process during which a search committee evaluated more than 200 applicants, according to Chamber Board Chair Martin Madden. The chamber says Johnson will be transitioning into his new role during the month of November and will assume full responsibilities December 5.
"Levon impressed the Search Committee and the Board of Directors with his track record of success while leading large and complex organizations. In addition, he has an unmatched knowledge of our community gained over time spent working with business leaders and involved on boards and committees with the Community Foundation of Elkhart County, Vibrant Communities, and our own Chamber," said Madden. "Levon will strengthen our engagement with members as well as the broader community."
In addition to his most recent role at ECS where he led the Work Ethic Certification process for the county, Johnson has also served as principal of Pierre Moran Middle School and assistant principal of Elkhart Central High School.
