LAFAYETTE -

A Germany-based board game manufacturer has announced plans to expand operations in Tippecanoe County. Ludo Fact GmbH says it will invest $13 million in its Lafayette facility over the next five years, creating up to 75 jobs. The company, which produces components for a variety of board games and puzzles, established Ludo Fact USA in 2016 after acquiring Jessup Paper Box in Lafayette.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says the expansion will begin later this year, allowing Ludo Fact USA to increase its production by double digits each year. The expansion will also allow the company to continue its ridging box division, which services companies in the cosmetics, health and beauty, pharmaceutical, and luxurious goods industries.

The announcement was made during Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger's trade mission in Germany. Indiana is home to more than 100 German-owned companies or German joint ventures.

"Indiana is truly a global economy, with more than 800 foreign-owned businesses like Ludo Fact operating across the state," said Schellinger. "As a state, we are committed to providing businesses a favorable economic environment that allows job creators to grow with confidence. We look forward to Ludo Fact's continued presence in Lafayette, creating new Hoosier jobs and furthering our strong partnerships with global corporations."

The company manufactures game boxes, game boards, cards, wooden and plastic game pieces and parts, linen bags and dice cups, hour glasses and puzzles for the gaming industry. The components can be found in popular board games such as Catan, Ticket to Ride and Dixit.

Ludo Fact plans to begin hiring this year for positions including administrators, machine operators, and skilled forklift operators. The IEDC is offering Ludo Fact USA up to $400,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $50,000 in training grants.
