McGoff Named Medical Association President
The Indiana State Medical Association has elected John McGoff president for 2017-2018. McGoff, a member of the Community Health Network medical staff, previously served as speaker of the House of Delegates, the policy-making body of the ISMA.
McGoff is a retired brigadier general with the Indiana Air National Guard and served as Marion County Coroner for seven years. After being elected, McGoff outlined the priorities he wishes to address as president, which include clear communication.
"We need to work closely with our specialty societies, our hospitals and our large practice groups," said McGoff. "And we’re going to work closely with the Indiana Hospital Association. I’ve committed to forming a task force that’s going to work with chief medical officers from around the state. The importance of this can’t be understated, since more than half of our physician practices now are owned by hospital systems."
The other priorities include attracting and engaging new members, physician leadership and improving the ISMA’s relationships with key stakeholders.
McGoff has also served on the ISMA Board of Trustees, was the president of the Indianapolis Medical Society and served on the Indiana Medical Licensing Board.
