Hoosier Beers Earn Great American Medals
Beers from eight Indiana breweries were medal winners at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival in Denver. Touted as "the premier U.S. beer festival and competition," the Brewers Association event this year included 800 breweries.
Ten beer varieties made in Indiana received medals this year from beer makers in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Columbus, Fishers and Bargersville. Hoosier winners include:
- "Auburn Lager," a gold medalist from Mad Anthony Brewing Co. in Fort Wayne in the American-Style Amber Lager category.
- "Ghost Pepper Imperial Stout," a gold medalist from ZwanzigZ Brewing in Columbus in the Chili Beer category.
- "Breton Blonde," a silver medalist from Metazoa Brewing Co. in Indianapolis in the Belgian-Style Blonde Ale or Pale Ale category.
- "Deduction," a silver medalist from Taxman Brewing Co. in Bargersville in the Belgian-Style Dubbel or Quadrupel category.
- "Klipspringer," a silver medalist from Metazoa Brewing Co. in Indianapolis in the American-Belgo-Style Ale category.
- "Magpie Muckle," a silver medalist from Sun King Brewing Co. in Indianapolis in the Wood- and Barrel-Aged Beer category.
- "Smoke on the Lager," a silver medalist from Chilly Water Brewing Co. in Indianapolis in the Smoke Beer category.
- "Cherry Busey," a bronze medalist from Sun King Brewing Co. in Indianapolis in the Belgian-Style Fruit Beer category.
- "Fieldhouse Wheat," a bronze medalist from Triton Brewing Co. in Indianapolis in the American-Style Wheat Beer category.
- "Hot Pink," a bronze medalist from Four Day Ray Brewing in Fishers in the Experimental Beer category.
