IDOE Releases School Accountability Grades
The Indiana Department of Education has released the school accountability grades for the 2016-2017 academic year. The department says the number of "A" schools increased by nearly 6 percent with nearly 25 percent of all schools improving by at least one letter grade.
The results show 62 percent of schools received an "A" or "B" grade. The IDOE is also reporting 5.9 percent of schools received an "F" grade, up slightly from 5.5 percent the previous year.
"I am encouraged by the results of our current accountability grades as an indication of the great education Indiana students are receiving," said Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick. "Our work, however, is not finished. As a Department we will continue to partner with stakeholders from the state level to the local community to ensure every school is successful and every student is academically prepared for the future."
