Plans call for the Riverfront Lofts, which was also a previous home of a Pillsbury plant and logistics business ICON, to include 166 apartments with views of the Wabash River, downtown Terre Haute and the Indiana State University campus.
Some demolition work and remediation has already taken place at the site. Construction is expected to be complete within a year. The building housed American Can from 1931-1955, Pillsbury from 1965-1985 and ICON from 1995-2005. Riverscape, which is a local nonprofit focused on redeveloping the property along the Wabash River in Terre Haute, says the project saved the historic building from the wrecking ball.
Organizers are asking tour participants to register ahead of the 4-7 p.m. event.
