The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a total of more than $180 million in military contracts to two companies in Indiana. The contracts with South Bend-based AM General LLC and Rolls-Royce Corp. in Indianapolis call for the production of Humvees and aircraft engines.

AM General will receive nearly $46 million to provide more than 6,500 supplemental Humvees, Expanded Capacity Vehicles and capability expansion kits for the Afghan National Defense Security Forces. The work will be performed in South Bend and is expected to be complete in August 2018.

The DOD has awarded more than $115 million to Rolls-Royce for the production of engines for the V-22 Osprey aircraft. The order includes 36 production engines for the U.S. Marine Corps as well as 16 production and four spare engines for the Japanese government. The work will be performed in Indianapolis and is expected to be complete in November 2018.

Rolls-Royce has also received a nearly $20 million contract for engine assemblies and other parts to be used for the E-2D aircraft. Work on the contract will also take place in Indianapolis and is expected to take a year to complete.

The Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland is the contracting activity for the Rolls-Royce contracts. The U.S. Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity for the AM General contract.
