The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded the nearly $57 million contract to Flexible Concepts Inc. as well as Ohio-based Gayston Corp.
The contract calls for the production of tail fins for 60mm and 81mm mortars. The DOD says the work locations and funding will be determined with each individual order. The work is expected to be complete by December 28, 2022.
The U.S. Army Contracting Command in Rock Island, Illinois is the contracting activity. According to the Flexible Concepts website, the company has manufactured munitions and warhead components for the U.S. military since the early 2000s.
