Insurance Leaders Attempt to Woo Industry Prospects
In an effort to draw young talent to the insurance industry, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership will host some 70 college students this weekend to showcase job opportunities and quality-of-life in the region. Organizers of the pilot program are attempting to develop "a replicable and scalable" model for future attraction and retention.
The students represent five colleges in Indiana and Illinois, including Grace College, Illinois State University, IPFW, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of Saint Francis.
Parker Beauchamp, chief executive officer of program participant Wabash-based INGUARD, says "from growth in the specialty insurance industry to investment in quality of life, Northeast Indiana is experiencing momentum. The inbound student trip allows us to strategically attract a pipeline of talent to live and work in the region."
In addition to INGUARD, participating companies include American Specialty, Ash Brokerage, Brotherhood Mutual, Conduent, Lincoln Financial, MedPro, PHP and Swiss Re. Activities include meetings with employers, attending the Middle Waves Music Festival and presentations by community and business leaders.
