The approximately $4 million project, which is part of the "My SB Parks and Trails" initiative, will increase the facility’s square footage by 50 percent.
Buttigieg’s office says the project will include three practice basketball courts, an expanded fitness center, a performance platform, new HVAC systems, a concession area, locker rooms, more storage space, and a bike repair shop.
The renovation is expected to take 12 months to complete. The mayor’s office says while work is being completed, all staff will be retained and all programming will continue as normal at various neighborhood locations.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. You can learn more about the project by clicking here.
