South Central Indiana REMC Names CEO
The transition of leadership for South Central Indiana REMC is underway. The nonprofit electric cooperative has named James Tanneberger president and chief executive officer, succeeding Greg McKelfresh, who is retiring in January.
SCI REMC says Tanneberger will work with McKelfresh to ensure a smooth transition. Tanneberger previously served as division manager for transmission, substation, and engineering at Bryan Texas Utilities in College Station, Texas.
"We truly believe he will be a great leader for our cooperative," Bruce Hamlin, chairman of the SCI REMC Board of Directors, said in a news release. "Although we are saddened to say goodbye to Greg and his experience and foresight, we are confident in the co-op’s future by his successor."
McKelfresh is retiring after 42 years with the co-op. SCI REMC is Indiana’s largest rural electric member cooperative, serving customers in Morgan, Monroe, Brown, Owen, Putnam, Clay and Johnson counties.
