He is currently the Republican National Committeeman for Indiana and serves as one of three Indiana members of the Republican National Committee. Hammond is a partner at Ice Miller LLP.
The Presidential Nominating Process Committee is a temporary committee formed to review the rules governing the nomination of the Republican Party’s presidential nominee for 2020. These rules include those for convention membership, the delegate selection process and timing, state and national conventions and certification of delegates and alternates and the primary election calendar. The Committee is comprised of eleven members. The current Committee includes members from Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Washington.
Hammond is co-chair of Ice Miller’s Public Affairs Group. As a veteran of Indiana state government, he has helped shape a wide variety of public policy, including that for taxes, environmental management, education, tort reform, transportation, insurance and economic development. Since leaving state government in 1988, he has led the governmental and public affairs programs for several major Indiana firms. John is a frequent public affairs panelist, lecturer, commentator and analyst. He has served as an advisor to several statewide campaigns.
He also serves as vice-chairman of the Standing Committee on Rules and is a member of the Executive Committee for the Republican National Committee.
