The organization says the school maintains boys and girls teams for soccer, basketball and track and field.
The teams will be able to compete in regular season events immediately. However, due to IHSAA regulations, the teams will not be eligible to participate in state tournament competition for four years. During that four-year period, the school must meet certain criteria to gain full membership.
The criteria include:
- Adhering to all IHSAA rules and regulations
- Maintaining at least one team and program for each gender in each season (fall, winter, and spring)
- Attending the IHSAA New School Orientation
- Attending all seasonal meetings and educational opportunities for the principal and athletic director.
Trinity School will also be monitored for compliance by an IHSAA assistant commissioner. That person will be assigned to mentor the school’s administrators during the first two years.
The IHSAA says after the four-year period concludes in June 2021, the organization’s executive committee will review the school’s compliance and vote on potential full membership.
The addition of Trinity School, along with the loss of Indianapolis Marshall, keeps the IHSAA’s membership total at 410 schools, the same as the previous academic year.
