New VP to Handle Fundraising as St. Joe’s Aims to Return
Saint Joseph’s College Rector Barry Fischer has named Bill Hogan vice president for advancement of the school’s Phoenix Project. Hogan will focus on fundraising and promotion as the school attempts to "rise from the ashes" of mounting debt that forced it to suspend operations in May.
Hogan, who attended St. Joe’s and played basketball for the school from 1970-1974, worked for the school in the 1980s as an athletics director, head men’s basketball coach, business manager and associate professor. He has worked in sales and athletics for the University of San Francisco and Seattle University. Hogan holds degrees from SJC and Bowling Green State University.
Fischer says Hogan "brings exactly what we need to this position: the experience, qualifications, knowledge of our alumni and friends, and record of attaining measurable results." He begins this week. In a message posted to the college’s Facebook page, Fischer added "hiring a Vice President for Advancement of the Saint Joseph’s Phoenix Project shows my commitment to the future of St. Joseph’s and the collective belief of my entire team that the resurgence of our mission is not far off. But remember, we will need your help."
An on-campus asset sale continues through Sunday at St. Joe’s to help fund efforts to reopen the more than 125-year-old school.
