A popular central Indiana attraction says it is packing a significant economic punch for the state. A study commissioned by Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Fishers suggests it generated a $39.1 million economic impact in 2016.

The museum says the 2016 total marks a $5.9 million increase over 2014, which was the year of its last economic impact study.

Additionally, the report from Kentucky-based Certec Inc. suggests spending generated by the venue resulted in 560 full-time, part-time, seasonal and temporary jobs, generating more than $12 million in income. The park also generated more than $10 million in local, state and federal taxes.

In January, Conner Prairie reported 2016 attendance of 391,261, which is a 4 percent increase from 2015. At the time, the park said the numbers were driven by record turnout for the annual Headless Horseman events and a week-long summer day camp for children.
