Indianapolis-based McGowan Insurance Group has promoted Anthony Sheets to account executive. The Ball State grad previously worked as an insurance sales representative at State Farm.

      Connecticut-based Harman International Industries Inc. (NYSE: HAR) has announced the first round of layoffs stemming from the closure of its Crown Audio plant in Elkhart. In a notice to the state, the company says 50 employees will be let go December 22.
