Holcomb Makes More Appointments

Subscribe NowGovernor-elect Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb has announced new appointments and reappointments for public safety and health positions within his administration. The two new appointees will lead the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and the Indiana Department of Corrections. Bryan Langley, who currently serves as global security manager at Columbus-based Cummins Inc., will become the new director of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. He previously served as U.S. Assistant Chief of Protocol at the White House from 2005-2009 and held various positions on the Bush-Cheney campaign. Holcomb has also named Rob Carter commissioner of the Indiana Department of Corrections. Carter has served as the executive director of statewide security and safety at Ivy Tech Community College since 2013, previously served as director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and was twice elected Clay County Sheriff in 1998 and 2002. The governor-elect has reappointed Dave Murtaugh executive director of the Criminal Justice Institute. Indiana State Department of Toxicology Ed Littlejohn and Indiana Parole Board Chairman Gwen Horth will also stay on. Additionally, Indiana State Department of Health Commissioner Jerome Adams has been reappointed along with Deputy Commissioner Jennifer Walthall.
Holcomb has also announced several state agency leaders will stick around as part of his administration. The reappointments include Department of Agriculture Director Ted McKinney, Office of Defense Development Executive Director Duane Embree and Office of Community and Rural Affairs Executive Director Bill Konyha. Jacob Sipe, executive director of the Housing and Community Development Authority and Mark Newman, executive director of the Office of Tourism Development, will also stay on. Holcomb has also chosen Jason Dudich to serve as state budget director. Dudich previously served as chief of staff to former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, controller for the city of Indianapolis and director of the Office of Financial Management. Adam Krupp, who currently serves as general counsel to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and special counsel to Governor Mike Pence, will become the next commissioner of the Indiana Department of Revenue. He also previously served as deputy director and in-house counsel for the state’s Division of Family Resources.
?Holcomb has also reappointed Dan Huge as director of the Indiana Finance Authority. Huge was originally appointed to the position by Governor Mike Pence in 2015. Courtney Schaafsma will continue as commissioner of the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance, a position she has held since 2014. Indiana Department of Workforce Development Commissioner Steve Braun will continue in his role along with Indiana Department of Labor Commissioner Rick Ruble. The two were appointed to their positions in 2014 and 2013, respectively. Additionally, Holcomb has reappointed James Betley as executive director of the Indiana Charter School Board, a position he has held since 2015.
