The company did not give a reason for the cuts in a notice to the state, but says layoffs will begin September 30.
The company says the decision does not mean the entire Sunman facility is being closed. The layoffs are expected to be permanent and the affected employees are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights.
In June, Deufol announced plans to expand its U.S. footprint with the acquisition of Wisconsin-based Bentley World Packaging’s operations in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Cincinnati. The company did not state whether the layoffs are related to the acquisitions.
