Thousands Expected For Game Day Nationals
A four-day baseball tournament that begins today is expected to draw thousands of athletes and spectators to Crown Point. Nearly 120 teams will compete through Sunday as part of the Game Day Nationals.
The South Shore Convention and Visitors Association says the tournament will bring in 400 room nights and more than $100,000 in economic impact. Tournament games will begin at 8:00 a.m. Thursday and continue through Sunday.
“We are excited to host a number of baseball and softball tournaments in the Region this summer including Game Day Nationals and National Softball Association World Series," said Rick Flutka, sports development manager for the South Shore CVA. "Large amateur sporting events like these bring in thousands of athletes, coaches and their families where they will eat in our restaurants, sleep in our hotels, visit our attractions and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in our economy."
The games will take place at the Legacy Fields at the Sportsplex, Legacy Fields at Center Ross Park, Jerry Ross Park and Crown Point High School. All games are open to the public.
