Indiana Key to $31B in GE Orders

Subscribe NowGE Aviation says its Indiana operations will play a large part in more than $31 billion in orders and commitments the company announced at last week’s Paris Air Show. GE’s $110 million jet engine assembly plant in Lafayette has more than 70 employees, and could grow to more than 230 when the LEAP engine program reaches peak production.
The company says the orders and commitments come from more than 30 airlines and others has grown its orderbook by more than 1,700 engines. That includes record orders for LEAP engines, which are produced in Lafayette.
GE (NYSE: GE) made the announcement at the Paris Air Show, which is billed as the aerospace industry’s largest trade event with around 2,300 international exhibitors and 150,000 visitors. Governor Eric Holcomb took part in the show as well, as part of his first international trade mission as governor.
In 2017, GE released a study showing the company’s businesses and their nearly 1,000 Indiana employees generate a more than $1.2 billion economic impact for the state.
