Butler Brings Back Jordan as Hoops Head Coach
One of the state’s most storied college basketball programs has a new head coach. LaVall Jordan, who played and has served as an assistant coach for Butler University, has been selected to lead the men’s basketball team. He succeeds Chris Holtmann, who left for the head coaching gig at Ohio State University.
Director of Athletics Barry Collier, who recruited Jordan to Butler in the late-1990s, calls him "a tremendous coach who exemplifies The Butler Way." Collier added "he has played a major role in successful programs that have competed at the highest levels. LaVall also has a deep appreciation for our university and this program, and will recruit and develop young men who will represent Butler well. We are thrilled to welcome LaVall, Destinee, and their three beautiful daughters back to Butler."
Jordan most recently served as head coach of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men’s basketball team. He was an assistant coach for Butler from 2004-2007, then became an assistant coach at the University of Michigan for six seasons.
Jordan is the 24th head coach in Butler men’s basketball history. He calls it "a dream come true" to return to his alma mater and says "Butler is a place that means so much to me and my family, and I am honored and humbled to lead this storied program. I want to thank President Danko and Barry Collier for the faith they have placed in me to continue The Butler Way and our great success."
