Holcomb says the amendment eases administrative burdens, expands treatment options and enhances HIP’s Gateway to Work program.
Among the proposed changes, members will be able to select pre-defined income tiers for contributions to their POWER accounts. The state says the tiered system will "provide payment certainty to members whose incomes fluctuate each month."
Holcomb is also proposing efforts to improve access to substance abuse disorder treatment for residents affected by Indiana’s drug epidemic. The state is requesting the ability to reimburse providers of Medicaid Rehabilitation Option serves at the enhanced rate available for all other healthcare providers.
Additionally, the amendment makes participation in the Gateway to Work program mandatory for "qualified able-bodied adults." Holcomb says the change is necessary in order to ensure Indiana has a healthy work force ready to meet the demand of skilled workers for the next decade.
"Since its inception, HIP has focused on improving the health outcomes of Hoosiers by empowering them to make more informed decisions regarding their care," said Holcomb. "With these proposed changes, Hoosiers eligible for HIP will spend more time on their health and less time on paperwork."
