Home Sales Increase in April
F.C. Tucker Co. says pended home sales in central Indiana increased 5 percent in April. More than 3,300 homes were sold in the 15-county region, up from more than 3,100 during the same month the previous year.
Of the 15 counties tracked by F.C. Tucker, 11 saw an increase in home sales last month with Decatur and Brown counties seeing the largest jumps at 125 and 36.4 percent, respectively. The company says the average year-to-date home price for the region increased to $188,583, a 6.8 percent increase over the same month in 2016.
"Going into this traditionally popular sales season, pent-up demand for homes demonstrates today’s housing market is not slowing down," said Jim Litten, chief executive officer of F.C. Tucker Co. "Buyers with their financing in order, paired with sellers who price their homes appropriately, are finding success."
F.C. Tucker says the number of active listings dropped 21.2 percent in April to 7,902. Morgan and Montgomery counties saw the biggest drops in active listings at 28.3 and 28.2 percent, respectively, while Jennings County was the only one to see an uptick in active listings at 32.4 percent.
