Holy Cross College has selected Justin Watson as provost, in addition to his current role as chief academic officer. The college has also appointed Michael Griffin, currently a tenured professor of theology, as senior vice president. Watson joined Holy Cross in 1995 and became dean of faculty in 2007 and vice president for academic affairs in 2013. Griffin, in his new role as senior vice president, will oversee college relations at Holy Cross, as well as teams that work in student formation. He will also advise Tyson on a variety of policy matters. Griffin joined Holy Cross in 2004 and has served as chair of the theology department since 2015.

The appointments follow the news of financial troubles for Holy Cross, including a review by the Higher Learning Commission that shows more than $1 million in operating losses for the college in 2014 and 2015.
