Bickel, who currently serves as an operations administrator for Sturtz Public Management Group in Churubusco, will begin his new role in June.
Bickel succeeds Jacob Everett, who led the organization for more than four years. He is also a certified grand administrator for the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
"It is through my experience both living and working in communities much the same as those in Blackford County that I understand the importance of growth and development," said Bickel. "I look forward to working with Blackford County leaders and citizens to affect the change necessary to make Blackford County an ideal place to live, learn, work, and play."
The BCEDC Board of Directors selected Bickel after a lengthy search. Board President Dan Borgenheimer says the board was looking for someone with "strong interpersonal and leadership qualities, solid organizational skills, and proven success in economic and community development." He says Bickel fits that bill.
