A tree planting ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse will include Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch and Commission Co-chair Lee Hamilton. The final program involves planting a total of 44 Indiana-native trees and is a collaboration among the commission, Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Anderson-based Ricker Oil Co. and its Ricker’s Replenish Program.
The state program, which began long before the 200th anniversary of Indiana’s statehood on December 11, 2016, involved some 1,650 projects that touched all 92 counties. It also included hundreds of events spread out throughout last year. The commission is set to complete a final report detailing the signature projects, legacy projects, county coordinators and other facts and figures on the effort by June 30.
