Indiana State University has named Caroline Mallory dean of the College of Health and Human Services. She has served for the past seven years as associate dean for research and graduate program coordinator at Illinois State University Mennonite College of Nursing. Mallory has been at the university for 17 years. She will begin her new role July 17. Mallory will be the third dean of the college, which was created in 2007 from the formerly separate colleges of nursing and health and human performance. The School of Nursing was created within the college in 2015.

The College of Health and Human Services employs 154 faculty members and serves approximately 3,400 students, about 750 of whom are enrolled in graduate programs. The college includes the departments of applied health sciences; applied medicine and rehabilitation; kinesiology, recreation, and sport; social work; and the school of nursing.

Mallory earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She earned a Ph.D. in nursing science at Indiana University, followed by postdoctoral work at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She has 20 years of experience teaching across baccalaureate, masters and doctoral programs and has worked for more than 30 years as a registered nurse.

Mallory is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and presentations with a focus on prevention, public and women’s health and has been awarded funding by the National Institutes of Health and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
