She is retired and previously served as executive assistant to Indianapolis entrepreneur Michael Maurer and office manager for Maurer Rifkin & Hill. Music for All is a nonprofit educational organization, whose mission is to create, provide and expand positively life-changing experiences through music for all. Smith has an Associate Degree in Business from Western Michigan University and she was the featured twirler and a member of the Western Michigan University marching band. Smith was an active band parent at the Westfield High School Marching Band, while her daughter participated in the band. She is a supporter and consultant of the Ball State University Marching Band.
