IndyGo says the transit plan will require additional employees and the company expects to hire 90 new workers in 2017.
The company says it will especially have a need for drivers and HVAC and electrical mechanics. The hiring event will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the IndyGo headquarters at 1501 West Washington Street just west of downtown Indianapolis.
Last month, the Indianapolis City-County Council approved a 0.25 percent income tax increase for Marion County residents to help pay for the Marion County Transit Plan. The plan includes three all-electric, rapid bus lines, new buses, increased route frequency and improvements around stops aimed at accessibility.
IndyGo says attendees of Saturday’s event will have the opportunity to apply for positions on site and ask questions from current IndyGo employees. The company says job seekers can also apply for positions year-round at its website or at the IndyGo headquarters from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
