Benner Receives Sagamore of the Wabash
Governor Eric Holcomb Thursday presented Inside INdiana Business contributor Bill Benner with the Sagamore of the Wabash. Benner was recently inducted into the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association Hall of Fame.
The award is given to a person who has "rendered a distinguished service to the state or to the governor."
Holcomb surprised Benner with the award during a taping of Inside INdiana Business Television. Benner said he was shocked to receive the honor.
"I’ve always said if I could ever have a Sagamore of the Wabash, because I’m such a Hoosier, that truly my life would be complete," said Benner. "So to see the governor walk around, that was stunning enough and then when he hands me the Sagamore, I’m just blown away."
Benner also serves as senior vice president of corporate, community and public relations for Pacers Sports & Entertainment.
