STAR Financial Bank has added Steven Merritt and Bernie Christman (pictured) to the Mortgage Banking team to serve home buying, construction loan, and refinancing needs. Merritt has 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently with Old National Bank in Muncie. He serves on the Board of Indiana Premiere Baseball Association and participates in the annual “100 Men Who Cook”, one of Muncie and central Indiana’s premier fundraising events. Christman has more than 18 years of mortgage lending experience, most recently with iAB. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. The bank has also promoted Mike Schmaltz (pictured) to vice president of commercial banking. He joined STAR in 1998 and has 30 years of experience in finance. Schmaltz attended Ball State University and Marquette University. He serves on the Board of Treefort Indiana and the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Board. Schmaltz also actively volunteers for the Muncie YMCA and Secret Families Charity.
