Hoosier Homestead Awards, given twice annually, salute those who have kept the same farm in the family for 100 years or more. Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch and Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Ted McKinney will present the awards.
In August, a record 92 families were recognized. Qualifications also state that a Hoosier Homestead must also have more than 20 acres that yield more than $1,000 in agricultural products per year. Since the honor was created in 1976, more than 5,000 farms have been recognized. You can connect to more about the program by clicking here.
