The deal will allow the cooperative nursing program at St. Elizabeth to continue.
As part of the program, graduates will receive a diploma in nursing from St. Elizabeth and a bachelor of science in nursing degree from USF. The program currently serves more than 160 students and the previous agreement between the two schools is set to expire after the May 2017 graduate.
"We are pleased to announce that students will be able to continue their studies on schedule," said Michelle Gerrety, administrative director of academic services and director of the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. "USF was a natural choice because of their high academic quality, focus on healthcare programs and Catholic Franciscan tradition."
The St. Elizabeth School of Nursing is a division of Franciscan Health Lafayette and Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer. The University of Saint Francis says about half of its students are pursuing healthcare-related degrees.
USF announced earlier this month plans to launch its Doctor of Nursing Practice program this fall.
