Subscribe NowThe Indiana State University Division of Development has named Tom Recker associate vice president for development. He brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education and nonprofit major gift fundraising. Recker previously served as executive director for development at the University of Maryland. He was assistant dean for advancement at Indiana University’s College of Arts and Sciences 2009-2015, was director of advancement for the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue 2005-2009 and director of development for the School of Industrial Engineering at Purdue 2004-2005. Recker served as executive vice president of the Grand Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa and Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation in Indianapolis 1987-2004. He was assistant executive director for the same organization 1985-1987. Recker earned a master’s in student personnel from Bowling Green State University in 1985 and a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Michigan in 1982. He will lead a development team of 12 people who will work to meet internal goals and assist the university’s deans to meet their colleges’ objectives. The Division of Development was created last fall from the restructuring of the ISU Foundation under the university’s leadership. The division is responsible for identifying and building relationships with prospective donors, soliciting and stewarding those gifts.
