Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report White Lodging Services Inc. will start Friday on the four-month-long process to take down the 330-room Radisson Star Plaza. The developer announced late last year the nearly 50 year-old structure would be torn down, to be replaced by a nationally-branded hotel that could open next year.
The new hotel could be six stories tall. Plans initially called for demolition of the hotel and the Star Plaza Theatre, which also sits on the property near I-65 and U.S. 30. The company reversed its decision on the theater in November.
The last hotel guests exited New Years Day.
