Ivy Tech, Allison Partnership to Benefit Employees
Indianapolis-based Allison Transmission Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ALSN) has announced a partnership with Ivy Tech Community College to provide financial assistance to employees looking to further their education. The deal would allow Allison employees to avoid up-front, out-of-pocket tuition expenses.
Allison is providing the assistance through Ivy Tech’s Achieve Your Degree program and the company’s own Tuition Assistance Program. The college will assist employees through the college and financial aid process and defer billing until the end of the semester, which allows students to take advantage of the TAP benefit.
"Allison and its UAW leadership have a long history of investing in the education and development of our workforce," said William Turner, director of education and development for Allison Transmission. "We are excited to partner with Ivy Tech and offer both our UAW and salaried employees with the opportunity to earn a degree or enhance their skills."
The program will allow Allison employees to begin taking classes this summer with more than 150 degree and certificate options, including industrial technology, advanced automation and robotics technology and mechanical engineering technology.
