Commission Selects 11 Supreme Court Finalists

Subscribe NowIndiana’s Judicial Nominating Commission has named 11 finalists for a soon-to-be-vacant Supreme Court seat. The candidates will take part in second interviews next month. The selection will succeed Justice Robert Rucker, who will retire in May.
Second interviews with the 11 finalists will take place April 17-19. The commission will send three nominees to Governor Eric Holcomb, who will choose the next Indiana Supreme Court Justice.
The commission bases its considerations on criteria including applicants’ legal education, law practice reputation and writing. The finalists are:

Hon. Maria D. Granger, Floyd Superior Court 3
Ms. Elizabeth C. Green, Indianapolis, Indiana
Ms. Leslie C. Henderzahs, Fishers, Indiana
Hon. Steven L. Hostetler, St. Joseph Superior Court
Hon. Matthew C. Kincaid, Boone Superior Court 1
Mr. William N. Riley, Indianapolis, Indiana
Mr. Peter J. Rusthoven, Indianapolis, Indiana
Rep. Thomas W. Washburne, Evansville, Indiana
The Commission will interview the 11 finalists April 17-19. The Commission will then publicly vote to send three nominees to the Governor who has 60 days to select Indiana’s next justice. You can see the applications by clicking here.
