Meijer to Expand Home Delivery to Indiana

The retailer, working with grocery delivery app Shipt, will begin offering the service in April and says further expansion in Indiana and other Midwest states will quickly follow.
Meijer launched the service in Detroit last September and has received more than 65,000 orders since that time. The company will first expand the service to its home city of Grand Rapids, Michigan later this month before launching in the two largest Indiana cities.
"We are excited to expand our relationship with Shipt because together we can offer customers across the Midwest a whole new level of convenience, product variety, and service not available before," said Rick Keyes, chief executive officer of Meijer. "Now customers can shop a complete grocery list online, having access to our world class assortment of fresh produce, meat, dairy and a number of other essentials that Shipt will hand select from a local Meijer store and deliver to a customer’s doorstep."
Shipt is a membership-based service in which customers shop for their groceries online and a Shipt shopper will pick up the items and deliver them to the customer. Meijer says Shipt deliveries will be available 24 hours a day at most locations.
Meijer says plans are in place to expand the service to other markets in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. The company announced last week that is also adding two new stores in McCordsville and Franklin.
