Purdue Team Advances in Rube Goldberg Contest
A team of Purdue University students is moving on to the finals of the national Rube Goldberg Machine contest. The Purdue American Society of Mechanical Engineers won the regional competition Saturday at Purdue to advance.
This year’s theme for the contest requires each team to design a complex machine with household items to complete the task of applying a band-aid. Last year, the Purdue ASME team finished outside of the top three in both the regional and final competitions, according to the Rube Goldberg website.
This year’s finals will take place March 26 at the Center for Science and Industry in Columbus, Ohio. You can view the Purdue ASME team’s winning kitchen-themed machine in the video below:
