This month’s Culture Matters segment features Student Connections, which focuses on helping future and former students overcome barriers to college enrollment and completion. Indianapolis-based FirstPerson Inc. Executive Director Paul Ashley says Student Connections’ leadership team has taken several measures to create a more open environment for employees.
"Their folks wanted the leadership team to be more transparent and connect them to ‘why are are doing the things that we are doing? How does it connect back to our mission?’" said Ashley. "They have an app that helps communicate internally, they do a monthly town hall, they do a monthly newsletter and they have intentional one-to-ones from managers to the teams that they’re on and they’re really taking seriously this desire for the employees to hear as they continue this new mission and growing." The company uses technology from Fishers-based Emplify, which sprouted from Bluebridge, for intra-office communications.
Right now, Student Connections has 80 employees and Ashley says the goal is to grow to 200.
