The Marshall County town began creating the plan last summer by developing a steering committee and gathering feedback.
The Argos 2030 Comprehensive Plan was developed through interviews, surveys, open houses and workshops held over the course of several months in 2016. Jon VanDerWeele, a member of the steering committee, says the development of a comprehensive plan is a "significant step" for Argos.
"The plan was developed by many active Argos residents and business owners, and will provide a blueprint to move the Argos Community forward on many levels," said VanDerWeele. "The Plan establishes guiding principles to improve and develop the Argos Community such as attracting industries, developing additional parks & recreation, improving infrastructure, and creating new housing and redevelopment. This Comprehensive Plan will serve as a guide to help grow and enhance the wonderful opportunities Argos has to offer."
The Marshall County Economic Development Corp. says the steering committee was able to identify priority action strategies for the next five to 10 years. The committee will hold an open house February 13 at the Argos Jr. – Sr. High School Auditorium to give a presentation on the draft plan and receive comments from community members.
